The Escape

I was a little reluctant to re-submit this piece in black and white, but it caught my eye on a night I just so happen to have something to say.

About a year ago, I considered this to be one of my early works. Before ever looking deeper into a picture, I considered this to be nothing more than a well composed photograph. After examining the content, as well as the reception I got from the photo I came to a conclusion. Some people saw it just as I did at the time... a well composed photograph. But I did not take into account the feel I have for this particular photo in present day.

The beauty of this photo is the irony of the beauty itself. People use this structure as an escape from imminent death. Not just any death, but a death by burning alive. This is a failsafe, a way out, an escape. This photograph can be analyzed as more than just an escape from death. By looking at this photo one can escape from any number of things. Depression, fear, LIFE! Everyone is looking for that sacred something that helps them escape from the mediocrity that is their life. I now offer you the opportunity to use this escape, for any means you see fit, and escape the situation you see fit. Use it wisely. and enjoy "The Escape"
